“But she didn’t die,” I said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“No. By the time I realized what I’d done, the other mother had already been discharged, believing the healthy baby in her arms was her own.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hospital security began searching every exit, every parking level, every camera feed. Two hours later, a call came in from a gas station forty miles away \u2014 a woman matching the description had been seen buying formula for an infant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
